Biography

Claire Dumarey (35 years old), was born in Ostend, Belgium on 11/07/1989. Since 2014. She has been fascinated by the art world since her childhood. It all started with making simple doodles, which later turned into real drawings. This is thanks to her art training at the Holy Family Technical Institute in Bruges, where she also graduated. There she followed the art course at the KSO, where she learned everything about the masters of the arts.

 

After her art education, she chose to help people and, in addition to being an A2 educator, she also became a healthcare professional. She took on the task of caring for her father who was ill. After working in various retirement and care homes in Ostend for 13 years, she noticed that something was missing in her life, something creative. In the summer of 2021, she decided to start drawing again.

 

She made several drawings of well-known comic and film characters and focused on portraying friends and acquaintances. Still, she wanted to be able to do more, so she started practicing making caricatures. After about two weeks she got the hang of it and started caricaturing her friends and acquaintances.

 

Determined to remain creative, she was given the unique opportunity at work to work as an animator during the week and as a healthcare professional during the working weekend. An ideal combination that gave her the opportunity to further develop as a person, but also as an artist. 

 

Because the work as a healthcare professional became too mentally demanding, she chose to work 3/4 as an animator at the same workplace. She was constantly surrounded by creativity in her spare time and at work. Soon she began to improve in making her portrait drawings in pencil. And she practiced this almost every week.
